    Does anyone have any knowledge of this software package which claims to burn dvd discs on a regular cd writer?

    The website doesn't offer much info and seems very keen to collect $29 from me!

    Well, you are correct. They just want your cash. It's NOT possible to burn a DVD on CDR disc. They are different formats. You would be spending money on info that is available free on this website.
