Using either Nero or Ulead video factory I can author vcds that have menus readable by other dvd players, but not my own Apex 600a. I did a search, and some folks referring to what might be the same player sold under a different name seem to have no problems with menus. But on the Apex what I get looks like a firmware option: I first choose "disk" and then a screen opens up that slowly pops open segment snapshots and distributes them on the screen. When I try to see chapters, the firmware randomly generates them -- bleah. Anyone know what to do?

Have you tried the following?
1. put in the disc
2. press play
Other people with the Apex 600A definitely have not had problems with menus.
