Dvd format on cd-r???

Does anyone know anything about burning data in a dvd format e.g .nfo files etc, onto a cd-r?
I want to know if it's possible as then I can burn vcd/svcd movies onto a cd-r made to look like a dvd and play them in the PS2 as well as standalone dvd players.

Any help appreciated as I'm sure this must be possible.

The latest version of nero allows burning dvd onto cd-r i think, but I need to convert either mpeg1/2 to the image file...?

What you are refering to is a minidvd do a searh on google to find more info.
