mpg to asf problem

as u can see here it's says:

but, my friend rips TV Shows and send them to me (@ mpg format) and when i try to convert them to asf the video goes FASTER then the sound, so it's not synched properly like it says on the quote

i tried another way, i saw a guide that explain how to convert the mpg to avi and then to asf, but, when i convert the mpg to avi - again - the video goes faster then the sound

can someone please help me? i don't know what to do.
