i'm a total novice in conversion so please reply with no big technical words!!
I've got PVR plus to do conversion of my video to mpeg files, and I'd like to check some of the settings, to make sure that the quality if good and it's not got any other terrible settings....... the help function isn't very good....
i've got setup as follows:
-mpeg2 (don't know what the other mpg2 and 4 are)
-capture 940 x 480 (is this the size of the screen to get good resolution, otherwise any larger and it compromises the quality via number of pixels etc?)
-bit rate 4000
-capture quality - fastest (this means the least quality, doesn't it? it takes sooo long to convert as it is, i'd hate to know how much longer on higher settings! what is the best compromise capture quality for a home video full of memories?
- frame rate = 30
Any info would be good.
it seems to take a very long time to convert things - a 1 hour video takes hours and hours.......
I've also got Nero but i don't understand it for conversion to mpg. is Nero software better than PVR plus for these video to mpg transfers? if it is, which part of the Nero programme does it?
thanks a lot.......

Not sure what your final product is, but if it's DVD, your capture should probably be MPEG-2, 720 x 576 pixels MPEG2 at 25 fps.(PAL) Usually for DVD the bitrate should be 5000 Kbps or higher. This is from 'What is' DVD to the left.<<<<<
Or am I totally confused with what you are doing? -
