I have a vcd mpg file that will not play correctly in WMP. Its
approx 291meg in size, and should be 23 minutes long, but it
shows as 15 seconds long, and plays that llong as well.

    Anyone else had this problem?

    thanks,

    Win

291MB's should be 29mins not 23. Sounds like it is corrupt.

well, i'm not being exact with the timing, but the file shows as 12 seconds in all players. I have DL'd it 2 times on 2 diff machines, and nobody else that DL's is having this problem.

Try play with something else like videolan.
Or try fix it with tmpgenc, under file->mpeg tools->simple multiplex and select the .dat/.mpg as video and audio source and create a new file.
    Or try Mpeg Corrector.

I just tried mpeg corrector, no luck, same problem. Same deal with tmpgenc. I will try some of the other PLAYERS suggested.

Ok, the file plays fine with Videolan, but i'm curious if it plays ok when burned to cdr. I've had this problem happen once before, and never did find out the cause of it. Again, thanks for pointing the way to Videolan.

OK, burned the file to cdr in data mode, and it pays fine on my Philips DVP642. I also burned it as a VCD, and again it plays fine, so I guess Windows Media Player
has a problem wit hthis mpg file.
