  1. I have some copy protected (may be Macrovision, when checking with
DVDinfpro only CSS was found) retail dvd movies, playing these movies
in my PC was okay. But the protection prevented me from playing the
movie on my computer to the TV via the TVout of the graphic card,
nothing was displayed in my TV. I tried different software dvd players
such as PowerDVD6; MS Windows Media Player10: Ulead DVD player
together with AnyDVD (www.slysoft.com) and DVDghost (
www.Region-Free-DVD.com) they all claimed "Macrovision-free" but all
    failed.

Any idea how could solve this diffeculty? tahnk you very much!!

rip the movie to your harddrive using dvddecrypter

then try and play it from the harddrive to your tv, if you get the same prob then its not a macrovision type problem

If you have used a number of tools, mainly AnyDVD and problems still persist, it means that possibly the problem does not lie with copy protection or macrovision.

The problem would maybe with your system setup for playing on your TV. Can you play ordinary video files on your TV from the PC. Have you checked your graphics card settings.

I am going to assume that when you connect your TV out, what's being displayed on your monitor (your desktop) is being displayed on your tv? If so, you are experiencing the copy protection when playing the movie on a device(your pc) that doesn't have built in decryption keys. To do what you want, grab a copy of DVD Fabdecrypter and rip the DVD into your media PC (your Hard drive). Play the movie using your favorite player software using the hard drive location. The decrypting software will remove any copy protection or encryption and allow you to freely display the movie onto any output device.

The statement in bold lead me to believe its a PC to TV settings problem rather than copy protection problem. If the settings are correct, then you would surely get a display of your desktop on your TV.

losl, can you confirm whether you have any display at all on your TV.

  7. Thank you for your replys and suggestions!
Sorry for the misleading I made in my first post.

The setup of my system/graphic card and the connection between the TV out and the TV is PERFECTLY okay. The display in my monitor is 100% cloned in the TV screen. I could run programs in my PC and play, using software player(s), some other DVD movies (no copy protection i think) in the DVD reader of my PC and display in TV.

Anyway I will try rip the content to my HD and play it to see what happen.

In that case, I'd say with almost 100% accuracy that you have experienced the copy protection block on your media. This prevents you from for example watching a DVD while recording it by passing through a VCR or other recording device. Ripping the media contents and removing the copy protection scheme will allow you to view your movies in the format you desire.

  9. I agree.
But what kind of protection? Is it a new one or macrovision?
If the dvd is protect by Macrovision why the software such as AnyDVD and DVDghost which claims "macrovision-free" could not handle it?

    just for curiosity, thank you!!

what kind of video card are you using? i have an ATI and somewhere buried in the settings there is a little box you must check that says "theater mode" in order for video to show on 2nd screen. otherwise you get a black screen. it's an 'overlay' thing...

If you have an Nvidia card, you should try TVTool.
I couldn't use the TV-out for Dvds till I used this.

well i looked through the knowledge base at ati.com and they basically say update the control panel and make sure second display is active. i looked at mine to see how i used to have to do it and it's all different now! i can't paste these stupid j-script links, but there are messages about dvd playback on 2nd monitor there...
