    Hi all

in some video's (varies in codecs) i have some kind of Artifact (runing green line usually) on the right side of the screen. its only happens in Full screen with BSPlayer but also with some other players like PowerDVD so i know the problem isnt related to a spesific player (WM Classic usually handles fine).

also i just downloaded an HD trailer and i have constant Purple Line on Full screen with all players...

i know it started to happen after i messed with some old PowerDVD, but i'm not sure anymore :/

any1 got a clue on whats it related to?

    thank you

I've been wondering about that myself. I get it on some of my HD captures.

  3. Dunno, but that is a very awsome source. If you were gonna convert that to dvd anyway, you would never see it due to tv overscan.
    Quality is my policy.

    Picture analysis

The left shift may be due to TV station (less likely), cable system or OTA tuner (highly likely) or something in the capture method. It is a very typical problem.

This area of the picture is usually masked by TV overscan.

The green line is the reaction of the player to the discontinuity.

Could be. Post a cap from one of the players and we can have a look.

Make sure if you're resizing that your width and height targets are multiples of 16 - 720/16=45 , 480/16=30 . Some codecs will create artifacts if it isn't.

Also, the mindless way to remove it would be to crop at the end then resize. This is easy in AviSynth.

Ed - Interesting to see the analysis of the pic I posted. I've found the 1080i broadcast of the Music performances on Leno to be really lacking. Lots of blocking and bad colors. Perhaps it is due to the intensity of the lights, or the need for a higher encode rate when they broadcast. Dunno.

Usually they do better than that but it's hard to avoid a direct light clipping. They usually rehearse the shots and watch for lighting overshoots.

That black problem could have been at the source or more likely transmission issue. If at the source, they need more light on Hilary's sweater. Maybe she wasn't wearing it during rehearsal.

I've been seeing good blacks off the Leno show via cable HD. No blocking here, comcast feeds at 25Mb/s.

This is a typical ts cap.

    @ Ar.Pi

yes. I finally found this thread. I lost it from last week, when I
wanted to post to it. Sorry for the delay.

I believe that the cause for your green/blue artifact is due to the
temperal-type filter that is configured somewhere in the driver and
written into your .reg file. Sometimes, something else can preset
it to a bad or too high a value. It could be a software player that
you installed, and it pre-set such values to a different one. And
in your case, you are suffering it's bad setting.
