  1. I'm having a problem with putting a downloaded vcd onto a cd-r. I got this vcd from a friend's computer. He must have just copied the files to his HD. I copied everything that is in the VCD directory onto a cd-r, but when I put it in the DVD player, it thinks it's a MP3 cd-r, not a VCD.

I checked the forum for something about this, the closest I came was someone who was having problems doing a direct copy. Is there a way to fix this, or do I have to convert the .dat file to an mpeg, just to convert it again?

    If you use Nero...

Try creating a new VCD in Nero, drag the .dat file (as if it was a .mpg file... (As it really is))

If it's ok, burn it =)

  3. A VCD is not a CD-ROM so you can't just create a CD-ROM with the filesystem of a VCD and expect it to work.

A VCD must be correctly authored (i.e., using a program that knows what a VCD is).

If you are copying an existing VCD, the easiest way is to do a simple disc copy.

If you don't have the original VCD but only have the "DAT" file, then you can use Nero to create a new VCD from this file. However, any added features like menus, etc., on the original VCD will not be in the one you make.
