  1. Ok, so ive burned a few vcd's some with good results while others not so good. The problem im having, is that on some, the video will speed up or slow down while the audio stays the same. When that occurs, the audio goes out of sync with the video for a couple of seconds then returns to normal. Im using virtual dub to split the avi into 2 parts then encode to mpg using the corresponding vcd template in TMPGEnc. So far ive tried several different brands of media, different burn speeds and still have the same problem with the same movies (usually dvd rips). If anyone has any ideas or suggestions id really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

On PC or DVD player (which one)? Some players are not fully comnpatible.

How low did you go in record speed? With me, 16x was a no-no but 8x OK. Try 2x.

Are you using the standard VCD or XVCD? High bit rates can cause this.

You say "same movies". Are you using the same rip everytime you encode or are you re-ripping? Maybe your rip is no good.

  3. Ok, ive tried burning at speeds between 4x-10x with the same results. Ive been doing it with the same movies where this problem occurs so that i can try to figure out what the problem is. Ive also tried re-encoding the movie with no luck. They play fine on the computer but when I try them on my dvd player the problem pops up. The dvd player is an Apex ad-1000, i don't think its the player because some of my vcd's play great. Im using the standard vcd templates provided by TMPEGenc.

Have you burned all those disks with the same software or have you changed software somewhere in between? I found EZCD didn't work as well as WinOnCD and Nero for my player. I don't know why; it just didn't so I stay away from EZCD for VCD now. It's just a thought but if you have changed, the difference may have affected the playing of the CD's. Other then that, I'm not sure what else you could try. Clean the laser on your player? Make sure your CD's have no fingerprints? Sorry I couldn't be more help.

  5. Thanks for your help, I think ive finally figured it out. I think you were right about the bit rate. I re-encoded the avi at 1150 kb/s then converted it in tmpegenc using an svcd template and burned it in nero as an svcd. Movie i was having probs with now plays great..thanks again.
