  1. I downloaded 3 parts of the same DVD (avi format), formatted the audio to wav, encoded them to mpeg 2, merged them to 1 file and burnt the file to DVD. I then found that parts 1 & 3 had sound whereas 2 didn't. On my pc, the avi's all played fine. Would it be possible to remove part 2 from the joined file and reconvert the file for part 2 and insert into the file, thus having a whole video or would it just be easier to redo the whole thing? Thanks.

Easier to redo the whole thing IMO. With any luck you've still got the MPEGs for parts 1 & 3 so all you need to address is Part 2, or you've deleted the intermediate files and have to do everything from scratch from the source files.
    If in doubt, Google it.
