  1. I upgraded my retail nero to 5.5.6.4. I have LiteOn CDRW which is 16x10x40. Previous Nero (5.5.5.1) recognized write speed of 16x without any problems. 5.5.6.4 version only sees 4x. Anyone else has similar problem? Thanks

I just bought a new 16x burner today (LG-8160) and when I first tried a burn, the best I could get was 4x. I even uninstalled Nero and reinstalled with no difference. After checking the FAQ at LG I found out that the burner was managing the burn speed based on analysis of the quality of the disk. Sure enough, when I tried another disk - 16x was an option. Maybe it's your media? If not, did you try going back to 5.5.5.1?

  3. This is going to be laughing matter for the whole forum. You are absolutely correct. I was using CDRW with 4x speed capacity and smart Nero recognized it (5.5.6.4) and stupid me didn't. Isn's it something? I think computers are way more intelligent than some of the users. Nero works very well. I live happily ever after.

  4. Before updating to 5.5.6.4 I could burn from my old acer(4x) burner to my new Yamaha(20x) burner. Now nero will not recognize the acer so I have to copy the photos from the acer to a HD then to the Yamaha burner.

  5. It wouldn's recognize the Acer at all or not at the correct speed? Check the acer website for firmware versions. Sometimes it helps. Also, what is the reading speed of your Acer? Could be an issue!

Benderchuk, it's bad when the software is smarter than we are...or maybe it's good - keeps us from *&^%ing it up.
