  1. I have successfully made a motion menu by following the Martin's vcd menu-chapter guide at
    http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/r/d/rdm186/

but the quality of the small motion windows, heading and chapter text is suck, even worse than original mpeg. I suppose that the lower dimention is the better quality will be. But it looks not as my expectation.

Is anyone know how to improve it.

  2. Cool. I didn't even know that TSCV could do that.

However, you are limited by the frame size and specs of VCD standard MPEG-1. Fine detail such as text often will not turn out well. There is probably little you can do...

From personal experience, whether I make a motion menu or a high res still menu on a standard VCD depends on the degree of complexity and detail on that menu. You'll probably get the feel of it in time.

  3. The TSCV V0.82 has a powerful tool for motion menu generation, I can put menu heading, chapter title even motion background altogether to create fancy menu. TSCV first combine above stuff and generate all the BMP sequence files into TSVC\seq directory, than call TMPEGEnc to create the motion menu.
I also checked the generated BMP sequence files, all in 740x480x16 million resolution. But the quality of the generated result still not good. How come ? Is it the TMPGEnc problem ?

  4. I know what TSCV is...

TSCV made still menus are not good quality. For real high resolution still images for use in VCDs, try this: http://www.geocities.com/mikk999/VCDStills.htm

For true power for VCD authoring, just use VCDImager and author the XML by hand: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd

  5. I had practiced the still menu guide also.
The VCD tool kits is difficult to use, I have not succeeded yet. I directly generated still menu from Nero 5.5+ without problem and more easier.
But I am willing to generate motion menu not still menu.
Is there any other tools can generate motion menu except TSVC ? or any tool can use the TSVC generated BMP sequence to produce good quality MPEG movie except TMPGEnc?
The VCDImager seems like a tool for bulilding VCD image from XML, but can not author the MPEG itself. Am I right?
Actullay I'm using VCDImager to generate CUE/BIN, but the quality also poor.

    Regards.
