I have Haupaugge PVR150 and I need to convert VHS tapes to DVD.
Looking for decent quality, and not super great.

Was ready to buy Canopus ADVC-50, but merchants are saying product is discontinued, replaced by the ADVC-55

Canopus web site says the ADVC-55 does NOT lock in the audio and video (which the ADVC 50 does) and this bothers me.

Any comments to steer me is appreciated.

That is a bit of a worry ... although I must say that I find it quite bizarre that they would supercede a product with something that is worse!

I've got the ADVC-100, so I guess my recommendation would be that if you can afford the extra brass, go with that. Either that or look extensively for an ADVC-50. Surely someone's still got it boxed on the shelf somewhere ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. I heard that it does maintain sync. It was some kind of word mincing thing. They couldn't technically say "it locks audio to video." I saw it in another thread here somewhere.

Another option is to use an ADS PYRO A/V Link (with firmware 3.0) or a DVD recorder.

I couldn't find any more info on the ADVC-55 sync spec. It doesn't sound right to me that the ADVC-55 does not lock audio/video sync.

Thanks for your input, guess I'll go with the "old" ADVC-100.........
