with the VCD toolkit if I make my entry points as seperate sequences and link them up with the next pointer, how do I keep it from starting back at the last unplayed chapter? for example If I start watching at the beginning and watch the whole movie as it is it starts back at chapter 2 and continues from there. I want to make it go back to the main menu when it is done. I know this can be done I-author does it for svcd's but I have the *cough* "fixed" *cough* version and can't do vcd's. Thanks for any responses.

With VCD2TK, a chaptermark defines an entrypoint to start playing an event. A sequence, however, will continue until you reach the end of the event or until the playing time expires.
To do what you want, you have two choices:
1. If you want to use a single A/V track, create chaptermarks defining the beginning of each sequence, then set the playing time of each sequence to expire at the point the next sequence begins.
2. Create a separate track for each sequence. You will not need to create chaptermarks or define sequence playing time.
The downside to either approach is there will probably be a slight pause as you change sequences or tracks.
2. Create a separate

so RF what you are saying is there is no way to make the toolkit follow the return link at the end it will always follow the next link correct? I know I-author follows the return link at the end of a clip and so does tscv which I may start using....

If you are not doing menus, you can make a VCD 1.1 formated disc with VCDEasy and chapters will work the way you want them to.
The way it's usually done is to set the timeout to take you back to the menu, instead of taking you to the next chapter. The Next route should still take you to the next chapter but it's the timeout route that triggers at the end of the clip. Next and Previous during playback take some getting used to, but thats just the way VCD2.0 works.

wildcat,
With VCD2TK, what happens at the end of a clip depends on what object you are using. Sequence objects require a definition for the next link, but event objects automatically pass control back to the calling object.
In any case, I don't see what difference it makes. In order to solve the problem you describe, you need to do what lusid said and set a timeout value so each sequence ends just prior to the start of the next sequence. The timeout value will trigger sequence progression. For each sequence object, define the next and previous links to point to the next and previous sequences. The exceptions to this would be the first and last sequences. The previous link on the first sequence and the next link on the last sequence should both point to the calling menu.
