I have recently purchased *AN* asus tv tuner. It has the model number 90-C1VBS0-0UAYZ. I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE I BOUGHT. According to newegg this model number corresponds with this tv tuner
This is the one from newegg
Since it was out of stock, I found an alternate place to get it (I got the alternate site from this site, videohelp)
I got it from here This is the one I purchased
Since there are no pictures on buy.com, and where ever I look they are EXTREMELY unclear of which tv goes with which model number. Some site say that model number goes with this This is the one I want to get
or this
This is the one I don't want to get
Many sites either don't give pictures or are very unclear to which one is which. As you can see, both of the above links are to 2 different cards but have the same model number?
If any of you ordered the one that I did from buy.com, do you have any idea to which one I will actually be recieving? THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP
BTW the links take a while to load... sorry for the inconvinience

According to BUY.COM the link you provided very clearly says Philips SAA713XHL
I am fairly positive that this chipset is the "good" chipset and has a proper A/R of 704x480 in NTSC (not sure what the correct PAL resolution is for this chipset).
Might want to take a look at the capture guide on the doom9 website as the guide talks about proper A/R for various capture card chipsets.
Another popular capture card (because it has the "good" Philips chipset) is the AverMedia DVD EZMaker PCI

According to ASUS, they have 4 cards.
http://usa.asus.com/products/vga/product_overview_mm.htm
Hopefully this will sort out exactly what you got.
Note that they all have the same chip!
You got the one with the remote, and you got NTSC for North America, so I would think you got the BETTER, because the one on the newegg page doesn't come with remote!
(although I'm not sure it's worth the extra $12.19)Cheers, Jim

sorry I am such a noob,
WHICH ONE AM I EXACTLY GETTING
can you give me a direct link to the one I am getting. Sorry for the lemen terms but is the card I am getting the green or the yellow one? -
http://usa.asus.com/products/vga/tvfm/overview.htm
The Right hand column with the Phillips chipset (and the NTSC version, not PAL).
The Conexant chipset version has no FM radio, the Phillips does.
You are getting the one here: http://www.pricewatch.com/h/prc.aspx?i=214&c=5&a=84159
It may NOT be the one you wanted, because it has the FM and a remote, but I think you'll be happy with it.Cheers, Jim

Ok, since I didn't really want the one I ended up ordering, I cancelled my order. Can any of you get a link to where I can buy the "yellow tv tuner card"
Here is the link for it from newegg,
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=15-116-507&depa=0
but they are currently sold out and have been sold out for a while now, so any other information or places where I can order it will be GREATLY appriciated!
Here is the card I am looking for off the ASUS site

I am thinking maybe this?

Just so you know this type of capture card doesn't work so well with VirtualDub. You are better off with VirtualVCR or iuVCR because they work with Capture cards that use WDM drivers whereas VirtualDub only works best (for the most part) with Capture cards that use VFW drivers.
Of course there is a "trick" that allows the use oft WDM driver Capture cards with VirtualDub but the one time I tried it ... it didn't work so hot for me.

P.S.
Most capture cards these days (actually for some time now) come with WDM drivers. I'm sure any of the ASUS cards use WDM instead of VFW."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci

Thanks for all the responses.
Doesn't the new virtualdub v1.6.4 support WDM Drivers?
Is this place ok to buy it, http://www.compuvest.com/Description.jsp?ItemID=47172
I am not sure if this is the correct one because many sites don't have really reliable pictures.
Anyway thanks for all your time... -
Um...
By referencing the manufacturer part #, you should be able to tell exactly which ASUS card you're going to get. It may NOT be the one in the picture!!!
Note the manufacturer's part number here:
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=AS-TV_FMR
Is different than the manufacturer's part number here:
http://www.compuvest.com/Description.jsp?ItemID=47172
Yet both pictures appear the same, and they both look identical to this one here: http://www.asus.com/products/vga/tvfm/overview.htm which is the one you said you wanted.
Yes, virtualdub should work with this card using WDM drivers.
Take a look in the Capture section at http://forums.virtualdub.org/ and here: http://www.tv-cards.com/messageboard/Cheers, Jim

Srry for all the trouble, as I said I am kind of a noob.
So, to finalize my cancelation, to my originally ordered tv tuner, I was suppost to recieve a cancelation email. I never got, I called up buy.com, they said it already shipped and cannot be cancelled. When I recieve the shipment I will have to refuse it, and I will supposidly eventually get my money back. Since I ordered it with a money order... I calculated together all the time it will take for the package to arrive, to send it back, process it, send me my money back in money order form. I wouldn't get my money back for over a MONTH. So I decided I will grudginly accept my original order, and not send it back.
THANKS for all your guys help, even though I don't really need. -
So you get the better card, with the FM, and with the remote
I think you'll be happy with it.Cheers, Jim
