I am in search for a external capture device.

Since I use my laptop and it does have USB, I was thinking of getting a capture device. I am wondering what out there you guys recommend that is not over $80.00 that will capture stuff from my VCR and camcorder 8mm.

I saw this one at compusa. Does anyone know if this will be a good purchase?

    or this one from Tigerdirect:

CompUSA also sells the DVD Xpress device. Every now and then they will sell it for $50.00 (after rebate).

I have the DVD Xpress, and it makes excellent captures (imho). Using USB 2.0, you can capture at high bitrates (up to 15mbps, although anything over 9.8mbps is outside of the DVD spec). The nice thing is that it captures both the video and audio and sends them to your computer via one usb connection (i.e. no need to have a separate audio connection to your sound card).
