vcd - black screen and can't read from cd drive

In short: when i burn vcd's, they are "playing" but the screen is black and there's no sound.
when i insert the cd into my cdrom drive, it says "incorrect media" (shouldn't i be able to browse the cd?)

nero5.5.5.1 /w vcd patch, hp 9210i.
using settings in nero: iso level 1, track at once, burn & finalize, ntsc (as encoded), compliant cd, cd-i application, iso 9660.

Always burn as Disc-At-Once, and make sure you finilized the CD
cause a CD-ROM cannot read a media that has not been closed! it will consider it as an empty media.
