Problems with ratio from DVD

I have made a DVD from my HD-recorder (Philips). The DVD runs in 16:9 ratio on my TV. Playing it in the computer, it run in ratio 4:3 - rather thin people!! Now I copied the Video_ts file to the computer, and run the IFOedit, changing 4:3 to 16:9. Now all is well in Windows mediaplayer end the vob2mpg-player. BUT converting it to mpeg2, it comes out in 4:3 ratio. Vob2mpg says 16:9 for the sourcefile in IFO-mode.

Furthermore - when I try to import the IFO-edited file (which play in 16:9) to Pinnacle Studio 14, it also show up as 4:3 ratio.

Is there any setting in vob2mpgpro, where I can force the convertion from 4:3 to 16??

VOB2MPG doesn't touch the AR at all. For DVD there are 2 parts to AR. There is AR in the IFOs (which you have dealt with). And AR in the VOBs. FYI there is a tool to handle the IFO ARs automatically:

Now, as you have discovered, different players (hardware & software), honour the different ARs differently! However, once you have the vobs on their own or the resultant mpegs - the only AR which comes into play are those in the actual vob/mpeg container. Thus, if these are wrong - they need to be "fixed". To do this use DVDPatcher.

Thankyou so much for your help. I uset the IFOar2vs, but vob2mpg still converted to 4:3. Must be the AT-flags in the vob-files. Now - I found a freeware videoconverter - Any Video Converter http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ - whivh seems to handle the vob-files from the DVD and force them to a specific AR. It works.

YES - it was just this marvellous DVDPatcher I needed. Now I can omport directly from the DVD to Pinnacle Studio 14 - and then just correct the AR with DVDPatcher. No need for another converter - nor IFOedit or IFOAR2WS. Thanks again.
