  1. Hi all,

I am not so sure whether this message should be posted at the Conversion section or at the Authoring section. Anyway...
Does anybody know how to create a 5.1 audio SVCD? What software do I need?
Do I create a 6-channel audio stream and multiplex it with a video track, or do I author 3 distinct stereo streams as 5.1 audio in a specific software.
    Thanks for the help.

    Rgds,
    Pedro

Just to let you know, I think the only brand of dvd player which can correctly output multichannel mpeg audio is the Philips line. So unless you have a Philips player or plan on watching the svcd on your PC, you might not want to bother with the format.

Check the audio forum at http://www.doom9.net. A group of people are experimenting with the compatibility of this format on various hardware configurations. There are some test samples there also.

  3. For anyone wanting to do this, if you have about $1500 you aren't using I saw in an Onkyo spec sheet where at least one of their receivers will actually decode an mpeg multichannel stream. Can't remember the model number though....
