  1. I have a satellite receiver, with one set of video outputs, hooked up to Tivo by S-video. The Tivo is hooked up to an A/V receiver by s-video. The Tivo has two set of video outs but only one of them is s-video. I want to hook up the DVD recorder to the receiver with s-video. If I do that I won't be able to see or hear output from the recorder while recording. I imagine that would be useful.

  2. If you have scart connectors (Europe only I think??) then forget about S-Video. Your setup should be something like this:

Satellite Receiver -->RGB Scart--> Tivo --> RGB Scart --> DVD Recorder --> RGB Scart --> Television

Your audio setup will depend on whether your equipment has digital or analog audio outputs and whether your amplifier has the connectivity to accomidate them. Provide more info if you want me to try and help.

  3. I don't have scart but I did end up connecting it this way last night. It means the DVD recorder has to be on in order to watch tv, but that's ok.

  4. If your TIVO has two sets of video outs, send the second set to a 'VIDEO 2' for instance on your receiver - provided you're watching through a home entertainment center. You can now watch TV without the recorder being on, that's how I do it.

  5. The Tivo has two sets of video outs but only one of them has s-video. I prefer to use s-video.

  6. If you're watching TV what difference does it make? Sheesh.
