I recently upgraded from Nero 5.5 to 6.6.0.0 and have been having some horrible problems trying to do the same things that were so simple under Nero 5.5. Maybe I'm missing something simple, but all of these operations are now so annoying and time consuming where they used to be simple. Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

    1) I keep all of my VCD menus on a network server. Nero 5.5 used to access the network just fine, 6.0+ has an embolism every time I try. I eventually had to map the network directory as a drive just to get it to see the network at all and I never had to do this before. Is there a simpler way to do it? Also, accessing the drive takes FOREVER!

    2) Every time I need to put in a menu, Nero defaults back to My Documents. If I burn 10 VCDs, I have to manually select what directory to go to 10 times. This is a pain. How do I make it just go to the last directory used like it used to?

    3) Nero loads everything at a snail's pace. It takes 3-5 minutes per file to load an already VCD-compliant MPG. What gives? Used to take a couple seconds.

    4) It seems like all of my VCD menus look absolutely horrible now. The same menu, burned under 6.6, looks washed out and muted where it looks crisp and sharp under 5.5. What's going on?

I'd just go back to 5.5 if I didn't need the DVD authoring capability. If this is what Nero has become, then no thanks, I want something that's easy and quick to use, not something that's useless and idiot-proof. There just HAS to be some way of doing what I want to do without all the hassles.

    Thanks.

NERO 6.6.0.1 was awful in my opinon. After using it for a week, I switched back to 6.3.1.25. Version update 6.6.0.3 came out yesterday but I have no plans to upgrade. I think I will steer clear of 6.6, for a while at least. There were way too many weird problems, design "unimprovements", and bugs.

A lot of people here still use 5.5 because they prefered it over 6.3 and they prefer it over 6.6. It might be your best bet until version 6.6.0.37 or something when they finally get it right.

If 5.5 did DVD authoring, I would. It doesn't. I do agree with you though, 6.6 really seems to suck.

We just got my wife a new DVD burner last week and it came with the Nero 6 OEM suite. Holy crap, that software sucks! It's got training wheels you can't take off! Completely useless for anyone who has a clue what they're doing and doesn't need the happy clown pointing out how to do everything.

As much as I love Nero, or at least did, maybe it's time to see if someone else has a better alternative. It is sad though that *NO ONE* seems to be able to answer these simple questions for me. I thought I could count on VideoHelp for some expertise.
