    Hi!

I'd like to thank everyone who helped me with my prior problem with the Hauppauge Roslyn (OEM card based on Conexant Blackbird chipset) card I won off of ebay. It won't work in Nero for capturing but I believe Sage TV Recorder may well be my answer.

Unfortunately, I've noticed another problem. I have the analog part of my cable signal coming into the coax in on my tuner card. It picks up some cable channels fine, but others are a mess of static audio and what appears to be "mistuned" picture. I put my old capture card, an AverStereo (which is based on the 878 chipset) and it picks up these channels fine.

I tried moving the Hauppauge card to another port but got the same results, with some channels coming in clearly and some not.

I'm running a P4 2.4 Gig CPU, 512 RAM, 120Gig Hitachi Drive under XP with SP 2 installed.

Do I have a bum card?

    Thanks

    Bill

Thought I would update this extremely popular thread

Last night I was able to try the Hauppauge Capture Card again, and it tuned all the channels in fine, though a couple had squiggly lines through it. The only difference is that this time I had the case side connected to the PC.

So, this sounds like an intermittent interference problem doesn't it?

I wasn't thinking and while testing the capture card in various slots and putting in & taking out my old capture card, I had left the side of the case off so I could get to components easier. When I tried last night, I had the case reattached.

  5. Oh, I see. I can tell you that with my Hauppage 250 the position of the various cables seems to make a big difference in the picture. I think it is important to keep the coax away from the ethernet cable but I haven't systematically tested that idea. I just push things around until the picture looks good. Some channels are fine and are not effected by this at all but a few channels are very very sensitive to cable position it seems.

Ok... that sounds a LOT like what I've been dealing with. Thanks!

    Happy Thanksgiving
