I have just upgraded from win2000 to XP, when viewing DivX3.11alpha files and in full screen mode the speed of play back is very bad,
Has any one else had this problem and got it to run properly(I had no problems running full screen in 2000)
I wanted to go back to version 6.4 of WMP but it will not let me

The 6.4 media player can coexist peacefully with the version of WMP in Windows XP. Just run the 6.4 exectuable. There should be no need to install anything.
As for the speed of the WMP native to XP, it's actually much faster for me than 6.4, which I had always used before. 6.4 takes several seconds to "buffer" before starting to play a large avi or asf. There is no such warmup time for me in WMP8.
6.4 does still play poorly-encoded clips better than WMP8, though. -
I recently upgraded and haven't had a problem with WMP8. Maybe you should try to reinstall it and get the new DivX codecs.
I only dream in black & white...
