SIMPSON'S fans will have to farewell TV's favourite yellow family in 2009 when the last series of the cult cartoon will be broadcast.

Creator Matt Groening says it is increasingly difficult to develop new storylines and wants to axe the show before it becomes boring.

The actors behind the voices of Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa have signed a deal taking them up to a 19th series in 2008 with Groening hoping to make one more series the following year.

"The show gets harder and harder every year because we are trying to keep surprising the audience, and trying to surprise ourselves", the 50-year-old told British tabloid The Sun.

"I'd love to get to 365 episodes, so there's one for every day of the year with no repeats", he said.

He also hinted some lesser-known characters, such as Bart's mate Milhouse, will get more prominent roles in the future.

"I think we'll see more and more stories about the other characters of Springfield," he said.

Too late. It's already run too long, like many series'. It was once great, but everything's been done to death. Give it a decent burial already

    Hello,

Never really liked it all that much. It had some cute moments but too jerky for my tastes.

  4. I like the newer series of the show. It's changed from what it originally was in the early life of the show but it still produces hilarious episodes on a regular basis.

I wonder if he is still planning on ending it with a movie.

  5. I want to see them do a sequel to the Homer 3D episode. The one where they animated him and Bart in 3D and at the end of the episode he gets transferred to the real world.

    I'm glad...it's about time.
The Simpsons were funny like 10 years ago.

Personally I would like to see a Barney spin-off (resident drunk whose lips quiver whilst burping)

I think the idea of looking closer at the other characters is pretty good. Those shows always got high ratings. Patty and Selma focused episodes did VERY well along with Ned Flanders episodes. It'd be kindda cool to get more depth on the other characters so it's not so boring with Just the Simpson's, but more an intertwining of them with the whole town. I think the Apu and Otto episodes are hillarious.

  9. I liked the older episodes as someone else mentioned. They did away with Itchy and Scratchy and "softened" it a bit. Too much "trying to convey a message" nowadays I think. I think the funniest thing I saw was when Bart put that can of Duff beer in the paint mixer. I still laugh when I think about that....

    Bring back Itchy and Scratchy!

And find a suitable replacement for Troy McClure.

  12. The funniest new character on the show is that loser guy, not 100% sure about his name but I think its Cliff.

    You mean Gil?
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

It had to end sometime...I've always been a fan of the show and always will be. It was hilarious when it started off, turned a little shitty, and its now back on track. The new episodes are funny and I think they should end it now with dignity before the show turns into crap again.

    One of his quotes:

    *Gil' calls his wife*

Gil': Aww ya shoulda seen me honey, I just almost, no, I almost made the sale but, wait a second, who's voice is that? Is that Bob? Aww geez, ya said it was over, no wait, don't put him on! Oh hiya Bob

Gil is awesome. He's Lionel Hutz's replacement, but it would be nice to find Voice Alikes and bring the characters back. We'll all miss Phil though.

Ralph does rule them all. His quotes are some of the most off-the-wall things I have ever heard in my life.

I think the newer episodes are less creative that some other seasons but no less funny than before. The sound of Homer screaming is probably the funniest scream in all of showbiz.

I'd like to see the return of Sideshow Bob (or just Bob now I guess). I'd also love to see a lot more star cameos. Kevin Smith has never been on there and it would be neat to see Jay and Silent Bob incarnated in Springfield. At one point you weren't anybody unless you'd been on The Simpsons.

You're still nobody unless you've been on The Simpson's. I love when they have Steven Hawking Episodes.

When the rat grabs the prison key from him:
    "The pointy kitty has it"

Or when Ralph sees Principal Skinner and Ms. Krabappel in the closet together:
"Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me"

    Or
"That's where I saw the leprechain. He tells me to burn things!"

Yes, Ralph says some memorable things.

Ralph also seems to be getting worse as the series does. He used to be funny. Now he's got lines like: "Now I don't have to stand in line anymore."

    My favorite:
    "It tastes like... burning."

The Simpson's still get high ratings for the new shows and rates high in it's reruns. They get storms of mail when they try to change the time slots for it or stop showing it for 1 or 2 days at a time. We're coming up to 3 generations of viewers for it. I think it'll be cool to see one new episode a day for a full year without repeating. And then a movie.
