  1. I have an interesting question. I have a file that was recorded using the "cropped" dvd mode (704x480). I know that I can reduce a "normal" dvd movie (740x480) to 480x352 and it will still work in a dvd player. HOWEVER, what is the proper resolution for the 704x480? If I set it to 480x 352 It will stretch it out a bit correct?

Also, I was using DVDx 2.3 to try and convert this file to Divx but when I load it in and try to choose divx as the output it's not there anymore! I had just used it to compress a video earlier in the day! Is there some scenario where it will not let you pick divx as an encoding option? Just thought that was strange. Originally I was using 2.2 and then i got to where I couldn't compress in divx so I installed the latest divx codec as well as upgraded to 2.3 but still no love. any help with either of these would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
    dlv

    What?
You've got all your resolutions so mixed up that the question makes no sense.

  3. Just convert your 704x480 file to 352x480. Your DVD player will stretch it properly when you play it.

  4. lordsmurf,
if you don't understand the question don't bother wasting space in this thread. If you need to know what half dvd resolution is then you don't belong here anyways.

The fact is, however, that you DO know what it is and I can't think of any reason you would come in here and make such comments other than to be a jerk.

Try this simple sensitivity lesson. Which answer is correct:
    1) I believe what you mean, muskgrave, is 352 x 480.
    2) You're messing up the numbers..I know what you mean but i'll pretend i don't to try and make you look stupid

If it really did confuse you then you'd better go lie down somewhere and let someone with a meaningful comment fall in line.

    junk,
Thanks for going through the agony of flipping the numbers and decrypting my message that makes no sense otherwise

I'll take number 2 please, Kent

Half dvd resolution is 352 X 480/576, not 480/576 * 352. Your question could be answered as written, giving you an answer which does not achieve what you now say you want to achieve. We aren't mind readers.

Personally I think YOU need to do some research and make sure you ask the right questions in future. At the end of the day, we're all here to help each other so lose the attitude
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. now it's time for a chronology lesson.

my first post was devoid of attitude.

my 3rd post was refuting someone's attitude.

what comes between 1 and 3?

What logic brought you to the conclusion that I had the attitude?

If you did not understand my question why did you write a smart remark?

The fact of the matter is you were not posting to help, you were posting to try and make me look foolish.

Had you been trying to help you would have either corrected me or stated that you did not understand what I was saying. To say my message made no sense may have held water but the next poster understood..was he then a mind reader? Should I call him up and ask him if there's any money in my forseeable future??? His answering my post reveals your arguments for what they are...

If you had corrected me and THAT had ticked me off then you might have had grounds to say I had an attitude. Instead you resort to potty humor.

    .
..and revealed what manner of person you are. I do not appreciate filth. If you are something above filth, then begin acting as such.

Is this the free help I should expect?
To be ridiculed for getting a resolution mixed up?
Then shot down again for exposing someone's bad attitude?

Get over yourself. When a question makes no sense, it's impossible to answer.

    Oh man,
I just stumbled in here just browsing recent posts.

I will just be quietly backing out the door and hope no one notices me.
