  1. i tried to copy a vcd using nero 5.5. I used the feature save tracks to hard drive as i had no blank cds and would burn later. Nero created two image files as two tracks. Now i cannot write or merge the two tracks to recreate the original vcd. when the images are written to two cds one track contains the normal file names for a vcd - mpegav, segment etc. the other track seems to be the .dat file which contains all the video footage but when it is written to a cd and converted back from the nero image it cannot be accessed. anybody any ideas how i can either convert the two back to one or access the dat file to get the video footage.

my advice would be to buy blank cd's and then just copy the disc directly, not bothering with that hard drive crap.

  3. try mounting the image with DAEMON Tools, see if you can extract the .dat to your harddrive and then converting it back to original .mpg with the tools in vcdeasy.
    hope this help.

The only situation that you would see the message about "saving tracks to hard drive" is if you selected Image Recorder under the Choose Recorder tab. There is no reason to do this unless you don't have a CD burner which makes your posting moot.

So let's assume you do have a CD burner. When you use Disc Copy, Nero always creates a disk image file on your hard drive unless you selected the On the Fly option which is dumb dumb dumb or you selected the Delete Image After CD Copy option in the Image tab.

Nero creates the image file with a default name IMAGE.NRG but you can type in any desired name before copying or rename the file after Nero finishes the disc copy. The image file will stay on your hard drive until you physically delete it.

This doesn't help you to reconstruct the VCD from your two image files but hopefully you won't have this type of problem again either.
