Had a weird instance yesterday. two .avi files were dropping frames on playback in media player and the audio was cutting out too. fearing they were junk i loaded them in vdub and scanned for bad frames. nothing. i set audio and video to direct stream copy and resaved the files. the new files both play flawlessly, but are about 200k smaller than the originals....

Anyone else had this/can shed some light on what's going on?

Sound's like a bad index on the avis. Re-saving direct-stream with Virtualdub re-writes a new index on the avi.

odd that no-one tested them before releasing them though.

    Oh well, it's done now.
