  1. According to some publications, the quality of vcd suppose to be like VHS, while the quality of svcd suppose to be higher (somewhere between VHS and DVD).
    Actually, I get my vcd in poor quality, much less than VHS, and my svcd appears to be about the same as VHS.
    I will appreciate to receive any response.

  3. your source's quality will be the limiting factor regardless of what format you end up with. vcd has little over half the picture detail of vhs....the only reason it even approaches vhs quality is because the pixels are sqaure, not rectangular. best you can hope for is to duplicate the appearance of vhs with svcd. capturing 480x480 or 352x480 will preserve all the possible detail from vhs(vcd discards/blends half the picture information)

    my source is mini dv (from digital camcorder) and I am using the ulead's VideoStudio 5 includes their dvd plug-in, in order to edit the movie and burn it to cd. according to this, is your quoted reply still valid? many thanks.
