Hi all,
Is there any other software packages that can burn vcds from avi files, etc? I've had Nero recommended but I have had problems with the mpeg2 codec.
Any recommendations of next best to Nero?
Cheers

I am still learning so bear with me. Is it possible to burn a VCD from avi format with an mpeg2 codec or does it still have to be encoded to mpeg first using TMPGEnc or one of those type of programs. Please email me with a response it someone can help. Thanx. I am also having problems installing Easy Cd 5.0 with Windows XP, it tells me no support for CD burner. But it works fine with Nero. Its an HP burner.

MPEG2 is for SVCD.
MPEG 1 is for VCD. You can make a VCD from an avi you must convert first. If you are looking for quick and dirty way of encoding encoding use nero.
go through the wizard for new VCD, drag and drop your avi and let Nero encode to VCD then burn away. If you want to get technical and use filters, fine tune settings etc. Use Tmpge for encoding, there are many tweaks and can be confusing but works TMPGE is most excellent.
