ATI's Crap Scheduling Software

So I just got an ATI TV Wonder, installed the MPEG2 compression drivers and the live TV listing software. Looks like full PVR style functionality, except for one problem: the scheduler only works half the time. Has anyone had a similar problem with a message like "Unable to initialize the video" when a scheduled event takes place? Worse yet, sometimes it crashes the entire system. Can anyone suggest a software package that offers similar functionality with better stability?

Also, if anyone is using a similar setup, is there any way to set the default recording format for an item scheduled in the Gemstar listings? I changed the default in the MMC, but gemstar keeps using a different setting.

turn off all program from where th clock is like Im and realplayer start from the right and work to the left then start up you tv turn it off then hit ctrl alt delete work your way down keep Exploror and systray and all ati program running then turn back on you tv record in vcd mode for 10 seconds then do mpeg 2 now ever thing should work
