  1. Hi there,

    1) can someone explain to me what is the purpose of the disk-at-once write method that Nero has ?

    2) Should I have disk-at-once enabled when burning SVCD or VCD with Nero ? Will I encounter problems while playing the (S)VCD, if the disk-at-once isn't enabled when burning ?

    Thx in advance.

    1) Take a look at this link:

    2) I cannot say with certainty, but I doubt it will make a difference. If anyone else knows different, please correct me.

  3. If you want the tracks to play back with 0 second gaps (seamless), you have to burn the disk-at-once. Otherwise, you will get 2 second gaps between tracks.

  4. Actually, even if you do burn DAO, there will still very likely to be a gap between tracks.

Assuming that your burning proggy and drive can burn in TAO without any anomalous pregap problems (most modern burners can), it shouldn't make any real difference whether you burn in TAO or DAO.

I personally prefer DAO for VCDs. As you can't burn a multisession VCD anyway, there is no real advantage in TAO over DAO but there are some possible (but unlikely) disadvantages.

  5. What about if I want to burn 2 MPEG-2 streams (i.e. Behind the scenes & Movie Trailer) in one SVCD ? Should I use DAO then ?

  6. I personally believe you should use DAO whenever possible.

However, it probably won't make a difference either way.
