  1. My Dell Dimension 8300 came with an NEC ND-1100A DVD+RW which I'm upgrading to an ND2500ABLK so I can burn both DVD+R and DVD-R. I was going to leave the ND-1100A in the computer as a source drive for copying DVD's but I understand a DVD-Rom would be a better option here. I'm not quite clear on why this is since the ND1100A seems to play everything fine. What's the advantage of using the DVD-Rom drive?

    Thanks,
    Gary

I would keep the dvd+rw since it would be able to read your burned dvds better than a dvd-rom drive. The only advantage is with a dvd-rom drive the ripping speed would be a little faster with pressed dvds.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  3. should I configure and jumper the ND2500 (reads and burns DVD+R and DVD-R) as the master and the ND1100A as the slave or will it make any difference?

  4. It will make a difference always let the drive you burn with be the master
