  1. Is there any program that allows you to tweak your webcam default settings? For ex. by default the webcam captures at 320x240 but it can also do it at 640x480 when i change it in virtua dub. It does not save the settings permanently however, so is ther a way to permanenlty change the default capture? Because in other programs i cannot change it at all such as msn, etc..

If you have XP, you can look in control panels>scanners and cameras and see if there are any adjustments available.

It should be controlled by you webcam software and drivers. I wouln't bother with a higher res picture - it just looks like a smaller one blown up.

  5. no the thing is the higher res one is not blown up.. the reason i want the higher res one is because the camera uses a bigger field of view when using 640x480 mode and you can see a bigger view... the 320x240 is very narrow picture, upclose objects cannot fit in the whole captrue screen....

Well, the standard answer would be to check the cameras website for a software upgrade. Failing that, you could just do a search for 'USB camera drivers' on Google (If it is a USB device) and try to find a software driver or program that would work with it. It's a long shot, and might require some experimenting. Most cameras have the same hardware and you may be able to find something that works.
