I am looking to convert VHS tapes to DVD and was wondering what the best capture card would be. I have an older one that can capture MPEG2 but the quality isnt that good even with ATI's Videosoap. Are there any other capture cards/devices that can capture to DV and has features like videosoap? Or.. are there programs that can improve the video quality. Thanks!

Based on my experience with that process, I wouldn't even consider using a card that doesn't support locked audio. AV synch issues are a royal pain, and it's definitely worth the extra money to avoid them. I'm giving the Canopus ADVC-50 a try - it consistently gets great reviews.

Be sure to follow some guide, as the ATI MMC software does not come with good presets.
