  1. Everytime time I try to make a VCD, no matter what program I use I end up having problems, nero won't work right for me I keep getting "execuatble file corrupted". No matter hw many time I donload it it will not work correctly.

Now I am trying VCD IMAGER GUI. and guess what. I am still having problems. this is what I keep getting...

    Assertion failed: CreateProcess(0,argv.c_str()0,0, TRUE, 0, 0, 0, &si,&pi), file D MY Doucuments\vcdimagergui\thread.cpp, line 93

THEN I HIT ENTER AND IT SAYS...

    Abnormal Program Termination

What the hell does that mean? Does anybody no how to help me on either of these? OR does someone no an idiot proof program (freeware or Demo) that will allow me to burn to a VCD? I am fine with converting and all that it's just these programs do not wanna work.

Thanks in Advance for any help.

Hmmm, you might want to update the virus definitions for your anti-virus software and do a full system virus check. Last time I had "executable file corrupted" problems it turned out I had the CIH virus and it had infected all executable files I ran, rendering them useless.

  3. Dragon_zombie_x, it's a pity you are ripping your hair out for VCD's, it's really not worth it, causing permenent damage to your hair is bad for life

Anyway, like N0SoopForU said, Check for Viruses, that's the first thing, the second thing I would do is do a Scan Disk on Windows, Third thing would be to check if the CPU Fan is working, that could cause problems.

And best of the best, REINSTALL windows! if it works like that for you, it's a piece of crap, just reinstall it, and check the same programs again and see how they work.

Unfortunately, these sound like all the trand marks of a virus. You had better hope that an anti-virus sorts it if so, otherwise it is a FORMAT C: \U and a new install of windoze, better wipe the boot sector too....
    Gotta love them virii.
If it is not a virus, then you may have some screwed system files.
Do you find any other apps are not working right?

  5. it is NEVER necessary to format to rid yourself of a virus

just get a current updated anti-virus program - and yes it does sound like a virus (or failing HD - run scandisk after you check for viruses)

  6. If the FAT table is corrupted by a virus, you will have to reformat the drive...

    Thank you...
Anyway, I didnt mean you HAVE to reformat, I meant you have to reformat and reinstall if the antivirus didnt/couldnt fix it. If you format your drives then you can pretty much guarantee that the virus wont spring up again, hehe. It is always good to format your drive and reinstall anyway, especially if you are under Win98 .
I had to reformat and reinstall windoze once because a virus totally infested and screwed my system, anti-virus software could NOT fix it - Leaving me with the only option of reinstalling. I always FORMAT \U before reinstalling anyway... the virus was more of a reason to do it.
FORMAT /U - Will just nuke that virus leaving no trace and
a good anti-virus should fix any boot sector virii.

BTW, if downloaded\exe files are all getting infected, then perhaps you wont be able to download an anti-virus program as it will too become infected before you can set it up and run it... forcing you to buy one from the shops .

    dragon_zombie_x, do you have anti-virus?

  8. Ok, I am gonna try what you all have been suggesting. And Yes I do have Win98. Looks like maybe I should update to Win2000 Eh? Hopefully I can fix all this...

Thanks for all the help everyone. If anyone thinks of any other ideas please let me know.

    Thanks
