  1. Okay, so when I was trying to get my TMPGEnc to decode XVID, I ran into the problem of it crashing... so I found the fix here:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=697139&highlight=ntdll

Well so after I reinstalled XVID and ffdshow and set the priorities straight... TMPGEnc worked. However, now I can't open up XVIDS w/ Goldwave nor can I play XVID with my Windows Media Player!!!! I checked with GSpot and it rendered just find (although I noticed that it registered TWO compatible codecs installed for both the Video and Audio...) So what do you think is causing my Goldwave and WMP to crash? I wonder if it's audio because Goldwave us a audio program and that crashes? Oh, also VDub-MP3 is "checking the file for freezes" just fine...

    Please help! Thanks.

  2. Hmm, okay, I think I've determined that it's the audio that's causing the problem. I went ahead and uninstalled XVID and the ffdshow and then reinstalled XVID. Well, xvid plays fine now EXCEPT there is no sound!!! In Gspot I see that it shows both video and audio codecs as "installed" and when I click on the Audio codec, it says that the "Following codec should be capable of processing this format: Nero Digital Audio Decoder"...

Umm, what's wrong? Please help, thanks.

What type of audio does your file have ?
Also do you have the Direct Show Multimedia Filter set to the highest priority in TMPGenc?

    That's interesting. I probably wouldn't have guessed.
