Hi,
everytime I try to burn a VCD or a SVCD with a bin file over 700MB (using, of course, a 800Mb CD-R), the resulting disk just won't play on my DVD or even on my PC. When I check what's happening, it turns out the DISK only has an "AU" (audio?) file.
I don't know why this is happening, since I use the same procedures when I'm burning 700Mb disks and it always works! (I.e. burning the bin file as an image).
And how can I put subtitles on the VCD so it will appear on my DVD, by the way?
Thanks!

Burning an SVCD or VCD is not the same as burning a data disk or an audio disk. You SPECIFICALLY have to pick one. Also, where you drag and drop the files to burn is VERY VERY important. If you drop them in the wrong spot, it won't play (or burn in most cases).

Authoring? I don't do this, I create the (S)VCDs with already made BIN/CUE files.
I use Nero 6.0 (Nero Burning Rom). I just use Burn as an IMage and chose the Bin file. -
Some dvd players don't support 800Mb discs, so that might be part of the problem, but that still wouldn't explain why it wouldn't play in your PC. it might be a faulty .bin file, there are programs that you can use (i can't remember any off the top of my head) where you can mount image files to virtual drives and play them that way....that might be a good way to test the actual file itself.
