  1. i i have movies avi and mpg the avi playes but when i try to play the mpeg i get this error

    Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error

    do i need codecs i have done all windows updates but have not installed any codecs on the market yet?

    If so witch do i dowbload? People tell me not to install all only the ones i need well how do i tell witch ones i need

    If you D/L Gspot or AVICodec and open any file which wont play it will tell you which codec you need to install.

    The newer mediaplayer 9 often refuses to play certain types of movies.
    Try to play it first with the older mediaplayer you can find in the same dir as the Mediaplayer 9.
    Search for mplayer2 on your pc.
    You can also try other alternative players like mediaplayer classic.
