  1. Hi everyone,

I have a damaged vcd disc that I want to fix. It contains a 600mb .DAT file (typical vcd format) on it. The movie/vcd plays fine with one exception. It freezes at a point halfway through the movie. The parts before that point and after that point plays smoothly. I'm guessing its due to a scratch.

My question is, is it possible to fix this by burning/copying the vcd using some program or other? I can't copy the entire DAT file to the HD due to the scratch. Is there a way I can record/copy the first half (up to the glitch), and then record/copy the second half (after the glitch) and repaste them together?

    Thanks in advance,
    Tony

  2. I had to do the same thing last night. What i did was to create an image file of the cd with clonecd, then extracted the file from the image with cdmage. I could then demux and remux the mpeg. It solved my problem, hopefully it'll help you too!

if it is scratch related, you may be able to smooth out the scratch on the disc with a mild abrasive, such as toothpaste (white, not gel). just apply a really small amount, wet it slightly, rub with your fingers working up a light lather and rinse. it'll smell really good too!

  4. Try using vcdgear Gui (tools section). I had the same problem with AI- The Movie. Managed to convert the dat into an mpeg and then ran Vcd Imager (tools again) to convert back to a bin file which you can then burn out again. Good Luck..
