  1. Hi, my aim is to back up a movie of mine & be able to play it on my PS2. I have made a number of back up copies which work on my friends dvd player but these do not work on my PS2. At the moment I am using 'Arita' 1x dvd-r media. Does my PS2 need to be chipped or something to enable playback? At the moment it does not even recognise that a disk is in the drive. Or could it be that the back up I have created is a NTSC version whilst me PS2 is PAl? Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

video format matters, as does media type. Some PS2's are picky about certain media types. DVD backups of movies should play on an unmodded PS2. Try a PAL Format disc on a higher quality DVD-R, take it from there.

  3. No, some PS2’s play – media or + media or both. I would recommend trying some different media. I have a version 3 PS2 and it plays – or +. It may be the software that you’re authoring/burning the DVD I have never had a problem using DVDDecrypter to burn.

  6. I tried ripping a different movie, this time choosing a PAl format film. I tried it on my PS2 & it worked fine. Thank you again for your help.
