    Hi everyone,

A CD has its storage capacity of 700MB. What can I do to burn my 950MB MPG file onto it? Is there any way to compress the file further without lowering the quality?

  2. If this MPG file is being burnt as a x(S)VCD then you burn in mode2 w/o error correction. That means:

    74min CDR holds 740MB
    80min CDR holds 800MB
    90min CDR holds 900MB
    99min CDR holds 990MB

so get a few 99min CDRs. Yes you can compress the MPG but the quaility will go down, how much of a quaility hit will depend on the quaility of the source and how you re-encode it.

wow! where can I find those CDRs? I could only find 790MB CDRs that could be over-burnt and could fit a 90-min video.

  4. If the computer stores you deal with do not carry the 99 min CD, you are simply out of luck. But I would not buy them anyway because they cost too much here near my home. For that kind of money, I might as well get my blank DVDs.
