thanks ,
but i realy want to put it on two disks
and setting a higher bitrate will result in tree disks .
I can accept the quality but sometimes
those blocks keep on coming on dark walls
any ideas ?

I'v had that problem before too....the only way I could find around it was to either increase the bitrate or reduce the size(ie. instead of 720x480 use 480x480).

amazingly i had this problem on a DVD disc using a apex 500w with the movie "boogie nights" it was wayyy to apparent.. but with my sanyo dwm-370 it doesnt show up at all. i'm not sure if you can remove the blocks considering how much less (s)vcd is than dvd.. good luck though

If you're encoding with CCE try changing the video quality slider towards the flat end. Or try it with CCE if you're not using it

How long is your movie? If your using VBR and 2discs then a two hour movie can use 1500kbps or more

The movie is HEAT (166 mins) and my calc gives me 1179 for 2 cd (128 audio)
So increasing bitrate is no option ( i can set audio to 112 but ..)
Yesterday i tried sefy CQ_VBR templates (same res) and the result was 1705 meg ( 3 cd)
with NO DARK BLOCKS anymore but to my eyes 2 pass was slightly better i think( on 2 cd).
So i 'll try Sefy settings with 2 passes tonight to get rid of those dark blocks
because the filesize is very hard to estimate with CQ_VBR

Where do you get sefy CQ_VBR templates? And where do get these filters I see referred to here? Also is there a downloadable bitrate calculator anywhere?

@ flumpf, tools and templates: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdtools.htm
