  1. I've recently gotten an ATI AIW 128 pro pci. I've tried many many things in an attempt to get the various versions of MMC to work. Finally I've managed to get MMC 7.2 working (though each time I start the TV I must go through the initialization wizard ).

I would greatly prefer using a 7.7 or later version as it can capture audio in 48khz. I can install 7.7 and have managed a couple of 8.x installs (out of many tries), but the TV fails to start. I hit the TV button, the splash screen comes up. Then I get the Microsoft window asking me if I want to report the error! It doesn't even tell me any error information.

The funny thing is it did kind of work at one point. On an early successful install attemp to both 7.7 and 8.5 the TV would actually start. I could get in, mess with the setting, and even record. But then when I restarted the TV all of my settings were gone--every time. And it also began randomly and frequently crashing on me (just the TV function). Since then and in subquent efforts the TV won't even start--though all the other programs (CD, VCD player, load fine).

    Any Ideas?

I must admit this is a second vid card on the machine. The other is a NVidia Gforce Ti4200. Though to use the TV at all I must be booted using the ATI as my graphics card.

    Win XP pro sp1
    AMD Athlon 18

  3. Ya, I picked up that fix from somewhere and installed it. It didn't appear to fix anything (from what I've read the "fix" is hit and miss). I also found and installed a "fix" for the "fix" (essentially copying a few of the files from the directx 9a over the 9b files. That too was to no avail.

  4. Thanks for the link. I've tried the fix with no luck. Besides, I've got and NTSC and the fix is apparently for NTSC-J and Pal.

    Any other thoughts?

  5. Your learning the hard way that you can't force an ati aiw into an existing set-up and expect it to work.

if you had w2k i would say re-format,re-install and make the ati the primary card, that is install it first. But since you have XP(not really a power user O/S un-less you,own it and are a crack x-pert).
For all I know you only have a image of XP so this advice would be useless.

If you want to successfully hack ATI MMC 8.7 to run on an ATI AIW 128 PRO and give zero problems along the way, contact me via PM or better yet through my website (though e-mail is disabled there until 3-15, so PM best for now).

I still do not understand why this is such a secret. Just go to the Rage 3D forums - specifically the 128 Pro AIW section and follow Rob 3435's advice. If eazylook is a concern just rename the TENSLIB1.DLL file. (yes thank you me). He worked hard and his work was successful.

Very simple. 8.9 is even easier and performs better. And please give credit where credit is due.
