For about a year I've been registering with Adult Bouncer and downloading Adult videos. Alot of them are WMV videos. When I first started getting them I didn't like them because they never played correctly [audio/video out of sync] after converting them to Mpg-2.

I then discovered that InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 can inport a set of wmv files ... I walk away and 2 Hours later ... I have a DVD Compliant Mpg-2 video.

But ... after about a month of download videos ... all the websites sponsored by Adult Bouncer ... had the same videos. So I took a leave of absence.

And now ... they finally have some new stuff. But the WMV videos are encrypted as MicroSoft licensed protected content.

Is there a way to bypass this ... so I can load them into InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 or similar program ??

I don't want to just watch them on my computer ... but instead convert them and transfer them to DVD.

They are dumb in a way ... because as I am writing this I am using TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert one of the "WMV video sets" to DVD format.

I turned on the video out on my ATI AIW 7500 and sent the video/audio to my Panasonic DVD Recorder and recorded on to DVD-RAM.

I then used InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 to convert to a DVD Compliant Mpg-2 video.

My other question ... The other ATI AIW video cards above the ATI AIW 7500 ...

...... is there another ATI AIW that can do a better job of outputing a video signal ... that I can record with my Panasonic DVD Recorder ??

The signal does look decent ... but during fast motion scenes ... I am seeing little streaks flashing around in the fast motion areas ... slightly annoying.

I've been thinking about getting one of the newer ATI AIW video cards and then giving my ATI AIW 7500 to my daughter ... [this thought has been floating around in my head for a couple of months already] so she can use the TV tuner recording feature.

im not really sure -- but someone said you can use graphedit to record 'what you see'

there are some guides here on using graphedit

  3. You could always open the files in TMPGEnc and save the project file, then use VFAPI convert.

Will WinDVD Creator accept files through direct show? You could try to remux to Matroska. WMV seek a lot better when in a Matroska package.
The only Windows Media that won't work so far is WM9 VCM, but you can remux them to AVI.

WMV's with DRM don't work, or at least, not for me!

Audio that is sometimes lost when WMV is loaded into TMPGEnc suddenly reappears when the file is remuxed to Matroska. Although the frame rate appears to double when remuxed, i havn't noticed any synch issues. Are WMV's interlaced?

VirtualDubMod won't accept WMV content, regardless of the package.
(Well, the video anyway) Its probably just turned off though.

Alot was said there ... I'm sorry you spent that time typing ... all you said is good ... but it is protected content.

For each new "video"set of WMV files ... I have to be online and verify I am authorized to play them ... it seems only Windows Media Player version 9 ... has the ability to play them.

The wmv files are licensed protected ... everytime I get a new set of these type of files ... I have to go through a song and dance ... and after a "license file" has been created ... that set of videos will play.

All other video players and video editors say something like ... corrupt or unable to open file.

I even tried the Windows Media Encoder 9 ... to open them and then redo them. Natha !!

I've used graphedit in the past. I used your highlighted graphedit link and downloaded it ... I didn't know where I put the version I had downloaded in the past.

I tried it ... didn't work ... error message opening file.

In other folder above ... wmv videos are not protected ... I tried one of them ... a graph was produced. At least I know normal wmv videos can be opened with graphedit.

Good ol MicroSoft .... eventually everything will be content protected.

  6. Yup, that sucks!

I got a question. If you open the file in WinMedia Player 9 and let it play to the end, but do not close WinMedia Player, does the key remain active?

If you open the same file in another (Non-DRM) player without shutting down WMP 9, will it play.

If the key does remain active you could try GraphEdit again.

I don't have any special insight into this problem but would be very interested in any progress you make.

Nice try ... I gave your idea a try ... I had my hopes up ... darn it

    but ... crap ... same results ...

I'm currently looking for another ATI AIW ... I noticed the AIW 9000 has S-VHS output ... now that should display decent TV video out to my Panasonic DVD Recorder.

Hmm ... my ATI AIW 7500 does have S-VHS output ... but the little line flickers are still there.

How about using a screen recording program like CamStudio to create a new file? I've wanted to try this myself but I don't have any protected files. It may not even work or the quality might be shit but I thought I'd throw it out there.

    Hey this is cool.

I was messing with the ATI screen settings. I found an option to select.

Theater Mode. It says that when I play a video it will display the video that is outputed to the TV monitor in Full Screen !!!

Windows Media Player 9 ... seems to be picky as to when it will switch to Full Screen ... I click it to switch to Full Screen and it does nothing.

The top and bottom panels will slowly move upward - downward and become full screen .... ... doesn't always do it.

But with this Theater Mode feature ... activated ... it knows I'm playing a video ... and it seems that the flickering lines has gone away too

It's trippy ... I've got it on now ... and it is displaying normal ... what I'm typing now is what I see on the el cheapo Orion 13" TV ... $60 bucks at Wal-Mart. But as soon as I click on the video ... the MS video player appears and as soon as the video starts ... it jumps to Full screen on the Oriion but it stays the same on my ProView monitor. This is COOL !!!!!

So ... I'm happy ... plus I don't really need to search for another ATI AIW video card. But there is some on Ebay fairly cheap ... ATI AIW 9000 Pro but the picture is ... not ... showing a tuner ... so I'm a little suspicious.

  14. yeah the only true method i found for "capturing" those darn protected wmv files, was to run it out of my ati video card and record it that way. The screen capture apps don't do a bad job, but let them run on a film that is like 45-90 mins and regardless of how fast your pc is, you will have problems. Interestingly enough , i get a "written warning" for asking the same kind of question a long time ago.

This ... Theater Mode ... it even works when I use BS Player to play a video. This is a feature I really appreciate.

Windows Media Player 9 ... seems to be picky as to when it will switch to Full Screen ... I click it to switch to Full Screen and it does nothing.
Here's how to fix that ...
    Go to MPLAYER2.EXE

    do a search or:
its in WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER folder inside the PROGRAM FILES folder

    Launch Windows Media Player 2
Load an Mpeg file into the player (it must be MPEG-2)
    Now GO FILE>PROPERTIES>ADVANCED
there in the white window..highlight VIDEO RENDERER the fouth entry
GO TO THE BACK TAB OF THE WINDOW that comes up labelled
    PERFORMANCE

...you will see three check mark boxes

I BETCHA the THIRD BOX IS NOT CHECKED on YOUR MACHINE as it says
    "DISABLE FULLSCREEEN DISPLAY CHANGES"
please put a check in the BOX and MicrosoftWMEDIA PLAYER 9 is FIXED ALSO (TOO!)

  21. Anyone know where i can find a description of how DRM works.
    (Probably not Microsoft!)

Rather than "crack" the encryption, i wonder if it would be easier to "Alter the Graph" of WMP9 to include a "Tee" filter.

Assuming you have a working license, try the following link.

    http://home.wanadoo.nl/lc.staak/freeme.htm

I have not tested this yet, so i have no clue if it works, though it is supposed to remove the DRM junk from WMA/V

  25. the problem with free me is that the app is somewhat old and has not been updated, so newer wmv/asf/wma files can no longer be "fixed" by it, as microsoft already took steps to fix freeme

Thank you for helping ... but the message popped up saying "the license is too big" ... strange error message !!!

The videos are 30 megs each ... at least in size.

I shall just keep sending the output to my Panasonic DVD Recorder ... image is not bad.

  27. in the end that is what i had to do with my files as well. the output looked fine
