    When i do this to fix an mpeg what should i save the file as........it says either video or audio...i can't save both.......when i pick one i'll either get just vid or just aud

    you need to go to Files->Mpeg Tools->Simple De-Multiplex

    Load you mpeg in the input box, and it will automatically do both the Audio & Video.
