  3. Sorry, I should have explained better in the first place. What I'm trying to do is burn several MPEG1 and 2 films to 1 DVD using Pioneer DVR-A03 and Nero Burning Rom. Nero however does not allow me to access the Video DVD Format. So, I want to burn (S)VCD files to DVD. You think it's possible?

  4. Last I heard no...DVD Media has to be AUTHORED (burned) in DVD format not SVCD...what you would to do is extract the mpegs out of the (S)VCD and re-author.

I have a slightly different question -- How can you burn a DVD image to CD-RW (on that would fit onto CD) using Nero 5.5.5.1? I can't seem to work it out, and my forum searches have proven fruitless. I've run out of search terms to try.

Open Nero, choose video-cd, deselect 'create standard compliant cd', select new, click and drag your file- that's it!

I performed a dvd rip, encoded it to DVD(NTSC)with a 2-pass VBR in TMPGEnc and burned the cd in Nero this afternoon.

Incidently, I did locate the necessary problem-solving information from this site...

  7. But surely all you've achieved is to burn a non-compliant VCD?

I have made a miniDVD (CD containg DVD material - only playable on PCs with MPEG2 player or very limited number of DVD players)
I authored it to Hard Drive using SpruceUp and then burnt as ISO to CD-RW and played on PowerDVD 3.0

No, with Windows Media Player and Elecard Mpeg-2 player I can view this on my pc...and with a software dvd player installed on other's computers, I feel confident that WMP, upon locating the proper codec, will play it too.

Admittedly, the cd only holds 15-18 minutes, but it appears ideal for short projects preserved at a high resolution...

  9. But the option you chose on NERO was VCD (albeit non standard) - so it cant be miniDVD!!!

miniDVD is basicly a DVD but on a CD-R(W) instead of a DVD disc. miniDVD is also sometimes called cDVD. A miniDVD does only fits about 15 minutes video on a 650 MB CD-R(W).

    (definition from this here site!)

  11. I know that - but - you are basically making a non-standard VCD: You are dragging your MPEG2 DVD file into NERO, then you are encoding it to MPEG1 at 720 res. Look at the file structure in the window pane above- it is VCD format.
You have simply encoded your DVD clip to MPEG1 using NEROs encoder, then created a non-standard VCD.

okay -- i revived this thread to get an applicable answer to *my* question -- so again, i ask, how can i burn a nero dvd image to a cd-rw, one thats small enough to fit onto a cd? -- if nero hasnt added the possibility of burning miniDVD/cDVD, i'd be really disappointed in them, they being so forward-thinking on non-compliant everything else

  13. I would use the CD-ROM UDF template and drag the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders (made with the program used to author your DVD files) into the pane and then write.
