  1. hi!

i have a few divx file that i want to convert to dvd
    i use TMPGEnc Plus(great program)

anyway I was wondering what sould be Average video bitrate for my mpg2 files acording to the bitrate set in my divx

i mean if my divx have a bitrate of 2585 kb/s should i encode them to the same bitrate in order to preserve the same quality?

    thanks

  2. The bitrates between the 2 formats don't really equate.

Worry more about using the maximum bitrate and still fit what you have onto a DVD, than trying to match DIVX to MPG2.

Well, while it is correct that comparing MPEG4 (DivX) and MPEG2 is not really applicable, in general terms I believe it is feasible.

I have found out of experimentation that achieving the same quality (totaly a subjective matter ofcourse) with the two, has a 2:1 ~ 3:1 ratio between MPEG2 and MPEG4. Which means that typically, an MPEG4 encoded video at 3MBps looks (to me) almost the same as 6MBps in MPEG2.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
