  1. Hi,
I've tried to convert various divx and xvid encoded films using tmpgenc plus and not one of the files are encoding! I have used BeSweet and I have more than enough codecs.
I've changed the environmental setting to a higher priority and its still not working.
Im trying to convert either xvid or divx to dvd compliant mpeg-2 but this has set me back please help!

  2. So what happens when you try to convert. Error, file too big, out of sync ????

  3. Can you explain a little better? Is TMPGenc rejecting your files or just locking up during encoding. Will these files play in WMP? Give us more details, maybe we can help.

  4. Sorry,

The films are just playing blank when i'm trying to encode with tmpgenc,
I have all codecs that are needed and most of the films are playing fine in WMP and if they dont play in this they are playing fine in Bsplayer or DivX player.

    Any Ideas?

What do you mean playing blank when encoding with Tmpgenc ? You mean you don't see the output video in tmpgenc ? or it produces a blank file ?

I take it you actually have an MPEG2 codec installed ?

Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard.

  6. Yeah I do have MPEG-2 codec installed when encoding the output screen is blank and the file just encodes blank.

  7. Can you load the original divx in VirtualDub, and if so will it do a Direct Stream Copy?

  8. Tried that mate but it wouldnt work it came up a message saying no audio decompressor could be found i think.

  9. Ok, then I would say the divx file has AC3 audio and you don't have AC-3 ACM Decompressor installed. VD needs that to be able to work with AC3 audio. Do you have it installed?

Also another great program I use is AVICodec. It is just a simple tool that tells most information about a video or audio file. I use that software all the time checking my video files out, but VD is also a very useful video tool I use almost daily.

Divx files with problems I have found it very helpful to simply do a "Direct Stream Copy" (audio & video) in VirtualDub. This simple routine will not reencode the file but it can repair many errors. Once copied I would then attempt another conversion with TMPGEnc. It should then work normally.

Did you watch the SuperBowl? Great game.
