I'm puting together a production video and want to add an FBI warning as one of the first plays. Where would I get one? I know I can probably rip one off my dvd's, but where are they on the disks? Proper extraction?
Thanks a million...

Any decent video editing software should include the ability to produce scrolling titles. Thats all you need.
My choice would be Premiere but I will be surprised if many of the cheaper products could not do this. -
Rip all the vob's on the disk and play them on your computer to see which one it is in. It is probly in the one that the menu is in.

Use DVD Shrink to preview the VOB's and then "backup/RIP" to your HDD.
On a slightly different note -- do you think the FBI warning is CSS encypted and copyrighted? -
Well. When I was playing around with DVD's I tried to backup one from Nero and did a direct copy.
The only thing that played was the movie production company's logo..eg Tristar, New Line Cinema, Paramount......etc
Not sure with FBI. You would think that this would not be protected..
Just my two cents..

Isn't the warning the intellectual property of the FBI? Can't the FBI bust you for distributing their copyrighted warning?
*head explodes trying to figure it out* -
I was watching a dvd just a while ago and it reminded me when i read this topic recently. I cant seem to get it to display..Its under 50k and is jpg.

Ok...I got one.
Second question:
Is there a way to add a very basic code to keep the disk from being 'disk copied' in Nero. Obviously, I can't keep many folks back, but I want to dissuade the casual bootlegger from copying a production for sale elsewhere. -

Most of these warnings have been very low quality - like they capped them from old worn-out VCR tapes. If you really want one, go the the FBI site and grab their official seal and overlay the text that you want on that one.ICBM target coordinates:

That just gave me an idea to make a spoof one for each DVD I send to my folks back home. Family home movies with an added bit of sillyness at the beginning....

Bugster...you're right. I just scanned through a post with over 300 replies all bashing some dude for wanting to copyprotect his wedding video productions...
moot point by now...but I'm not recording weddings, I'm putting together instructional videos for sale on ebay as well as an ecomm site I'll be putting together in a few months. I suppose I'll just add the warning to the front and then just sue the sh!t out of anyone who trys to sell a copy online...I don't mind backups...hell, I do it myself. I problem is pouring thousands into a production and then some ass in China/Canada/USA selling MY video on ebay....hmmm....I sound like the MPAA
Polital correctness: no offense to the Chinese or Canadians...lol... -
Instead of putting the warning on one of the first plays why not use it as the introduction file. Ulead 6 DVD has that option. Might fool somebody.
I like the suggestion for you to grab the official seal from the fbi site and put a label over it..
